Donate to help the Garreans family as they battle cancer

Kirk Garreans was diagnosed with Stage IV bladder cancer in September of 2015. He, along with his wife Carol, are the self-employed owners of ALP Design and Production in Orlando, FL. Now that he is receiving chemo and surgical treatments, he can no longer work, while Carol has become a full-time caregiver to him and their 2 young children. The family is relying on donations from family, friends, charitable organizations, and people like YOU that are willing to help! They desperately need any financial assistance they can get to pay the mounting bills as they fight this horrible battle.

family waterfallTo help with financial needs such as lodging, medical bills, food, clothing, utilities, and so much more, you can use one of the following sites to send money which will greatly assist them in this battle. Your donations are greatly appreciated!!!

You can now make a tax-deductible donation through one of two different organizations! Just be sure to follow the instructions here exactly in order to make sure your donation gets to the Garreans family. If not, they will still be used for VERY good causes, but they might not get to Kirk and Carol.

First, you can donate through their church – Kissimmee Christian Church – For now, it’s best if you send a check, and be sure to include the words “Benevolence Fund for the Garreans family” on the check. Mail your donation to: Kissimmee Christian Church at 415 N. Main Street, Kissimmee, Florida 34744. Be sure to include your name and address on the check or envelope, so that donation credit may be provided for tax purposes. If you have additional questions or need assistance with your donation please contact the church office (407-847-2543) or .  Also, be sure to let Kirk or Carol know that you donated through the church, so they know to be expecting funds there, if you would please.

Another wonderful organization that provides a way to donate with a tax-deductible gift is The Meetings Industry Fund. They have been very generous in providing funds when the Garreans family couldn’t pay their mortgage or health insurance, etc. Be sure to specifically mention that your donation is “for the Garreans family” when you make the donation, and let Kirk or Carol know you have donated so that they know where to expect the funds. You can contact the Fund and even donate directly from their website  –  .          The Meetings Industry Fund is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit corporation exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The following are ways to give to the family, although they are NOT tax deductible, and may incur fees. To donate directly using PayPal, without any fees or deductions, you can use the “Friends and Family” option. This ensures that the entire amount donated is available for their use.

Or you can use the GoFundMe page set up by Kirk’s sister. Although it shows a $20k goal, which has been met, that goal was set when they thought this would only last a couple of months, and that Kirk would be able to get back to work. Instead, this has turned into a full-time ordeal, and as of August, 2016, it has been 10 months since they have been able to work for any sort of income. So the need is FAR greater than what was originally estimated. This option does deduct a percentage of your donation, which goes to the GoFundMe operations. We believe it is about 10% of all money donated.
